Last Saturday The Renaissance Choir spent a day in the Visconti Studio at Kingston University to record material for a new CD.
MD Peter Gambie directed a recording of Ian Schofield’s Stream of Life, commissioned by the choir in 2016, as well as Renaissance polyphony by Orlando Lassus and William Byrd. We also recorded Francis Poulenc’s Gloria accompanied by the choir’s favourite pianist, the supremely talented Karen Kingsley.
The day went very smoothly thanks in no small part to the studio’s sound engineer Rob Plummer who helped to ensure that we sounded our best. Our thanks also go to choir member Isabella van Elferen, the Director of the Visconti Studio, for providing a top-class recording space.
The choir remained in good voice and good spirits throughout an arduous day. Susan Yarnall excelled herself as soprano soloist.
The new CD is expected to be released in early 2019.
