Most years we go on tour and in recent years we’ve alternated going abroad with staying in the UK. This year we visited Christchurch Priory and St Ambrose Church, Bournemouth and sang works by Byrd, Bach, Palestrina and Whitacre. See our concert poster.
It was a suitable occasion to mark MD Peter Gambie’s 25 years with the choir. Sue Ingram, Chair, thanked Peter for his commitment to promoting Renaissance music as well as contemporary composers such as Moore, McMillan and Whitacre. Speaking on behalf of all the members of the choir, she said that she nearly always felt exhilarated at the end of a rehearsal, always having learnt something new, and looking forward to our next music making.
Susan Yarnall Monks presented Peter with a buddleia (or butterfly bush) called Silver Anniversary and Siriol Seabrook presented him with a book of memories.
