At our next concert on Saturday 13th July, we will release our new album, named Stream of Life after its featured work by Ian Schofield.
The piece, commissioned by the choir in 2016 to mark our 40th birthday, is a setting of extracts from Rabindranath Tagore’s Gitanjali (1910). The disc also features a recording of Francis Poulenc’s Gloria accompanied by the marvellous Karen Kingsley on piano. Renaissance motets by Orlande de Lassus and William Byrd complete the album.
The release is available as a CD at £10 a copy and through online music stores including Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, and Spotify. This is the first time a Renaissance Choir album has been available online and we hope it will bring our music to a much wider audience than was previously possible, particularly as we are showcasing a new work by a Hampshire-based composer. The recording, directed by Peter Gambie, took place in May 2018 at Kingston University’s Visconti Studio where choir member Isabella van Elferen is Director.
