As last year we will be performing on two consecutive nights. Although some of the Christmas motets and carols may not be so well known, there will be plenty of audience participation! The programme has been planned by two choir members on the theme of “Christmas Joy”.
Jingle Bells and Carol of the Bells show the Renaissance Choir’s huge range, as do the Spirituals De Virgin Mary and Mary had a baby, which both swing to a vibrant beat.
Our rich and varied programme features Renaissance motets by Guerrero and Lassus, provide settings by Britten, Poulenc, Duruflé and Lauridsen, and modern works by David and Gjeilo. There will be old favourites such as Once in Royal City and O Come All Ye Faithful, so there will be something for everyone!
We will be performing at St Mary’s, Hayling Island, on 8 December and will repeat the concert at St John’s, Southbourne on the next evening.
